LEED Gold Certification for Existing Buildings (O+M) – Rome Headquarters
28/05/2025 - 14:31
Our headquarters in Rome has obtained the LEED Gold certification for Operation and Maintenance.
This achievement demonstrates our longstanding commitment we have pursued for years toward the responsible and sustainable management of the spaces in which we work.
The LEED certification, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), recognized globally as the leading standard for assessing building sustainability. It evaluates key aspects such as reduced environmental impact, energy and water efficiency, waste management, indoor air quality, and occupant comfort.
This recognition confirms significant benefits: reduced energy, water, and maintenance costs, improve the operational efficiency of our systems, and at the same time increase the value of the building.
Over the years, we have consistently invested in improving our headquarters by adopting solutions that reduce consumption, enhance comfort, and create a healthier work environment. For example, we chose Airlite—an innovative natural paint applied to the walls that reduces air pollution in a way similar to a forest — contributing to people’s well-being and improving air quality. We also replaced all lighting systems with high-efficiency LEDs, reducing energy consumption while improving light quality in our spaces. To limit water usage, we introduced aerators and installed dedicated meters for each type of water consumption, allowing us to monitor usage more accurately. Water savings were further enhanced through complete renovation of toilet flushing systems and the implementation of a rainwater harvesting system used for garden irrigation. We applied solar control films to the windows, reducing solar radiation, minimizing glare, and improving indoor thermal comfort. We also equipped the building with intelligent sensors for detailed monitoring of consumption across all systems. Lastly, we installed solar panels on the roof, enabling us to generate energy from renewable sources and further reduce our environmental footprint.
All these actions played a central role in the journey toward certification and are part of our daily commitment to a more sustainable future.
Achieving the LEED O+M v4.1 certification represents both a milestone and a starting point; it is in fact a dynamic measurement tool that will allow us to continuously improve our energy and environmental performance over time.
Thanks to this achievement, we joined an international network of renowned buildings known for innovation and sustainable management, such as the Empire State Building in New York, Taipei 101 in Taiwan, and the Generali Headquarters in Trieste.
This accomplishment strengthens our sense of belonging to a corporate culture that places people and the environment at its core, in line with our ESG Strategy—a recognition that motivates us to continue investing in quality, sustainability, and innovation.
